Friendly bar, perfect for older and younger crowds. Relaxed atmosphere where you can play darts or just catch up with friends. We were in town for a girls weekend and wanted a place to go out. Rumbles near by was more of a biker bar and we first went there because of the l8ve music but we left immediately and ended up at Marty's and this bar was more of your neighborhood cheers where everyone was welcome. Bartenders were also super friendly.
There's a bar like this in every small town..a Cheers of sorts where the locals gather, but are also friendly to the visitor passing through. You always have at least one interesting conversation with a local, and this time I had a fun conversation about favorite American novelists. After telling me about a kitten he had rescued, the longtime local asked to protect his phone while he went to the restroom. As he left he said to think of who my top five favorite American writers were... Now top 5 writers anywhere geographically would have been easy (Twain, Shakespeare, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Orwell, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe) but this question was a tougher one. Mark Twain would probably be number one, regardless of geographical birth. Definitely Ralph Waldo Emerson, who strongly believed in civil disobedience and got kicked out of Harvard University for 30 years for giving a speech that the head sheep didn't like..even though everything he said was proven to be true. Harvard ate crow and invited him back after 30 years (something to think about for you obedient non-thinking sheep mindlessly following government "mandates"..which mean nothing legally (a mandate that is). Anywho, nice staff too. I put a dollar in the jukebox so I could play Randy Newman's "Political Science" and it didn't give me any music credits, but the bartender reimbursed my dollar when I relayed the tragic missed opportunity for one of Randy Newman's sarcastic tunes.
It took us over a year and a half of living here to finally check this little place out, and what a gem we were missing! It's extremely laid back and I definitely get the sense most of the people in there are regulars. There were three of us in our party and we mostly shared appetizers and some bar food. The fried green beans are particularly good! It's a dive bar in that the place is dark, smells like smoke, and serves ranch in individual plastic cups like you'd get if you ordered pizza delivery. The three of us had combined 7 drinks, 3 appetizers, and 2 entrees including a steak dinner and our entire bill was less than $40! This was happy hour prices on a Thursday night but I have no idea where else we could go for the same meal for that price. We really enjoyed ourselves!! So much we came back later the same week, and then again the week after that lol. I thought the fried fish sandwich was good, my husband really likes the chicken strips, and the portions of the appetizers are really generous with plenty to share. I would say Thursday is the best night to go. Plenty of seating, easy street parking, good food, fast service, great happy hour, good music playing, and just a really chill atmosphere. Whenever we want some beer and bar food, this will totally be our new hangout!
This is a great restaurant and bar. The staff are super courteous and the food is delicious. There are daily lunch specials, and all of the food is reasonably priced. Thursday's seem to be the busiest day of the week during the lunch period because steak is often the special that day and it's definitely worth going there for. Try it you'll like it
Great down to earth place to visit anytime of day. TouchTunes jukebox. Service is great, they work very hard. Food is very good, makes me want to come back for more.
